Becoming a Carry 117 Ambassador

Recently, I was in the quiet room of our local library trying to get some work done. I just happened to be wearing my Carry 117 t-shirt, using my water bottle that had a Carry 117 sticker on it, and carrying my Korah tote. A young man came over to me and said to me in a whispery, library voice, “Where did you get your sticker?” I was a little taken aback. I told him that I got it on a trip to Ethiopia. He said he really wanted one and had just spent that last few minutes looking up Carry 117 online.

I hadn’t really expected to be representing Carry 117 at the library that day, but I did. And because of that, someone new knows about Carry 117 now.

Did you know that by representing Carry 117 through carrying a bag, wearing a t-shirt, or posting about Carry 117 on social media that you are a Carry 117 Ambassador

Now that I have been to Ethiopia and have seen Carry 117 firsthand, it’s easy for me to tell the story when someone asks me about my bag or my shirt or the sticker on my water bottle. But I know not everyone can fly halfway across the world to experience Carry 117 firsthand! The good news? You don’t have to actually GO to Ethiopia to be part of sharing the mission and story of Carry 117!

What if everyone who has a Carry 117 t-shirt or has purchased a product is ready to tell the story of Carry 117? How many more people might know the story behind the products? Who knows how many more women might be empowered, how many more families would be preserved, and how many fewer children would enter orphanages as a result.

One way you can be part of sharing the story of Carry 117 is to carry one of our bags or wearing one of our t-shirts. Without a doubt, someone will comment on how much they like your bag or ask where you got your shirt! And when they do, you can tell them something like this:

“This bag is not just a beautiful bag. It’s the tangible representation of a community of at-risk women in Ethiopia who have been given a chance to make a better life for themselves and their families. Carry 117 trains women to sew and produce quality leather bags and products. Not only that, but they are taught how to manage and save their income. They are fed quality meals. They have their dignity restored because, where they once felt shame and despair, they now take pride in producing quality products and can support their families financially and provide an education for their children. The company is owned and run by an Ethiopian in Korah, Ethiopia. The USA staff is made up of all volunteers who provide support and marketing. The purchase of Carry 117 products provides more opportunities for employment so more women have the opportunity to provide for themselves and their families.”

Now that you’ve got their attention, you can point them to the Carry 117 website where they can learn more and purchase products. Make sure you also tell them to follow us on social media (Instagram: @carry117  and Facebook: Carry 117) where they can meet some of the women, see our new products, learn about Ethiopian culture, and take part in some fun giveaways.

Maybe you have been wanting to get more involved with Carry 117, but you just haven’t known how. Becoming a Carry 117 Ambassador is a great, and super easy, way to get involved! And you can start right now. Here are a few ways you can be a Carry 117 Ambassador right where you are:
